Paella ni Tito Babes

When was the last time you ate Paella? In my case, probably a couple of months ago. But I’ll be having that glorious plate of spanish flavors tonight. Its Migs birthday and his dad Tito Babes is preparing his famous Paella. I was told that cooking was just a hobby of Tito Babes but he welcomes orders. One giant plate of this mega-tasty dish is about Php4,500 and it can probably feed 15-20 hungry people. Yummy!

I’m not an expert in Paella but this surely is one of the tastiest rice dishes that I have ever had! Yeah! Just message me if you want to get the contact number to place your orders.

As you can see, its as big as an opened up newspaper

After feeding around 15 people... whew!

I love SeX – My Favorite Tapsilog Place

I’ve been a big fan of this tapsilogan place ever since it started. The best part is that most of their “silog” dishes range from 45 to 60 bucks. Nowadays, that’s a steal! I also love the fact that they serve it with margarine topped with garlic bits “buhaghag” fried rice – yumyum. Here’s what I normally do – I pour some of that rich chili oil on my rice and mix it up.. mmm… surges of heat down my throat. Hahaha. Sinangag express is the best! Sulit pa!

For those who don’t know what tapsilog, longsilog, all silogs mean – silog is short for sinangag at itlog. You can pretty much add any of the first 1 or 2 syllables of the dish that you want to pair it with and that’s it. For example: Tapa, sinangag and itlog – TapSiLog. Interesting huh?

Cont’s Pastry Shop and Restaurant – Serendra

This weekend we ventured to Serendra to try out Conti’s known for their baked goodies and home cooked style comfort food. I tried out their Arroz ala Cubana – which is in my top 10 list of favorites.

If you’re planning to order the caesar salad and just salad for your meal – you should order the “to share” one because the single order, well, its not much if you ask me. But the dressing was good and tasty.

Here are some shots of my Arroz ala Cubana. It tasted real good and I wish I had more. I remember when I first fell in love with this dish in the canteen of CSA when I was still in grade school. It was served with fried eggs and fried bananas. The bacon was a bonus – I think. For those of you who have no idea what Arroz ala cubana is – its groud beef or pork cooked with raisins and some tomato sauce and spices. I tried cooking one yesterday and I’ll post that later.

Most of the items on their menu range from 150 to 300 bucks. For dessert, New York Cheesecake! Yummy! Just right.

Salad: Php 80 (not much)

Conti’s first opened their doors in BF homes Paranaque, its sad that I lived for more than 20 years in BF Homes but was not able to try it out. Ha ha ha. But that’s ok.

I heard that their pasta is really good so I’m planning to try that out next. Looking at their menu, I think its cheaper if you order the family size and just share. For example, Angel Hair Puttanesca is 160 bucks a la carte, but if you order the family size good for 6-8 persons, its only around Php 340. Amazing right?

Anyway, they have tons more of dishes that you can choose from. You can order family size, take outs, frozen foods, baked goodes, and set menus.

Pizza Niro – Big Pizza!

This is one big slice of pizza! We tried it out a couple of weeks ago – sorry I wasn’t able to post it earlier. I saw this small pizza place while walking along de la rosa st. You won’t notice it at first, its along the car park under the walk way right beside the laundry place

Feast your eyes on this one! I placed a pack of cigarettes so you have a reference on the size. We ordered a 20″ Pizza Niro (I think). And they have a 30″ one – can’t wait to come up with an excuse to order that one.

Its around 600 bucks, as far as I remember. The 30″ pizzas will cost around a thousand pesos. Sweet deal if you ask me. You can actually role it up! Crust is just right – just the way I like it.
